Rebel

In 2002, Rebel started in Rotterdam as a group of financial advisors. Nowadays we provide much more than financial advice. More and more often we are the investors ourselves – for projects that make the world a little bit better. We also initiate our own projects, if one of us comes up with a good idea.

Instead of a hierarchical company managed from the top, Rebel is a collective of companies, with the Rebels themselves as co-owners. By organizing ourselves in this way, each Rebel takes maximum responsibility for “his or her piece” of the company. Despite the fact that we are organized in separate companies, we have a shared mission: to make a positive impact in the world. We also share common facilities, such as office spaces and a support office. The latter also includes the marketing team.

The companies operating under the Rebel brand are mostly active in the markets of urban development, transportation, sustainability, healthcare and the social sector. But at Rebel we are always open to new opportunities and challenges. Because we do business with an open mind, in the past nineteen years we have grown into an international company with more than 250 Rebels operating from offices in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Düsseldorf, London, Washington D.C., Kenya, Johannesburg, Mumbai, Jakarta and Manila.

The marketing team

Rebel’s marketing team supports the companies operating under the Rebel brand in achieving their commercial goals and reaching the right target groups globally. With Rebel rapidly growing over the past few years, marketing requires a new mindset: We no longer approach Rebel as a Rotterdam-based company with some offices abroad. Rather, we are increasingly growing into a truly international company with offices established worldwide. We are in the process of developing a global brand strategy, to be rolled out this year. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a knack for strategy and an eye for commercial goals to strengthen our small marketing team.

What you will be doing

  • With our office in Rotterdam as your home base, you will develop methods to enhance Rebel’s brand visibility and market share by staying in conversation with all Rebel ventures worldwide.
  • You will conduct research on our global brand strategy, client profiles, and market share to develop a strong sense for the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities to improve our brand positioning.
  • You will gather and assess a wide array of data, ranging from customer feedback to surveys measuring brand recognition and engagement.
  • You will develop and deepen Rebel’s brand story.
  • You will have an active role in developing the annual marketing plan and provide support in its execution, for example by writing copy for marketing materials.
  • You will be offered a 1-year contract (32 hours a week) with the possibility of extension. Flexible working hours are possible.

Your profile

You are a marketing and/or brand strategist with at least five years of work experience in a similar position. You think commercially and strategically, but you also put this into practice. There is no delegating, you are ready to roll up your sleeves. You are well informed about today’s marketing tools and platforms – in particular LinkedIn, Instagram and email marketing – and can give thorough and creative advice. A variety of strong opinions and direct feedback don’t discourage or intimidate you. You like a challenge!

You have experience working for an international company in a B2B environment, preferably for a (boutique) consulting firm like Rebel. You have experience living and working internationally. You know how to translate a global brand strategy to the local level, meaning you have an eye for detail and can see nuances. You write and speak English effortlessly, preferably you are a native speaker. A strong command of Dutch is an advantage.

Above all, you are a positive and cheerful colleague who works hard, but also enjoys talking about other things than work.
