Financing Isala hospitals
Convincing the market to invest 480 million Euro of risk capital at the height of the credit crunch, that was exciting.
Financing a new hospital in crisis times
Isala Klinieken Zwolle asked us to take care of the funding for the construction of their hospital building. This was an exciting mission, on the interface between healthcare, real estate and finance. The requirements banks impose on hospitals nowadays represented the main challenge. Indeed, they are treated just like a ‘normal’ business.
An exciting and pleasant mission
Rebel has a huge experience in attracting funding for large projects and organisations. It is terrific to be able to use this experience in and for the healthcare sector, and enable healthcare institutions to make enormous progress in professionalism. In Isala’s case, the added problem was that the funding came at the height of the credit crunch, and that we had taken on the job at risk. This made the project extra exciting and also pleasant.
Rebel tapped into the banks’ needs
We know what banks need to assess and structure the loan application, and we quickly tapped into this knowledge. As a result, we were able to exploit the situation optimally. Before meeting with the banks, we already knew that the project would be fundable and the deliverables we had to provide to the bank were as good as finished. Of course, we also formulated advice on the negotiation strategy, and we translated the outcomes in terms of operational management in the hospital. In addition, the quality of our products and the reputation of our firm were two major factors of trust for the bank, and this ensured a smoother process.
The result: a fantastic new hospital
The result is a fantastic new hospital building in Zwolle, giving Isala a massive head start in terms of the quality of care they can offer their patients. We are extremely happy with the result. We knew a lot about financing, a lot about real estate and a lot about the healthcare sector, but it was the first time could combine all three with this project. We also saw that we can represent an enormous added value for a healthcare institution.
