Rebel Hester Duursema maps out leadership

Organizations of the 21st century ought to focus on the future and adapt to the continuously changing environment, and simultaneously to obtain short-term results and ensure the continuity of the organizations. These competing demands bear consequences for the desired leadership in organizations. No longer the answer can be found in leadership at the top, but leadership plays a role at all levels, be it with a somewhat different content.
Rebel Hester Duursema is in her last phase of her PhD trajectory at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She focuses on leadership as emerging out of people playing different roles, instead of focusing on the individual leader and his or her characteristics.

Hester has built a model with which to measure leadership role at the level of the individual, within teams and in the whole organization. With this model, it can be shown where the gaps lie in order to specify leadership development per level in the organization.
